7 Traditional Anniversary Gifts

Although there are traditional gifts that coincide with certain anniversaries, such as paper for the 1st anniversary and silver for the 25th, there are other things customarily given as wedding anniversary gifts. Some popular options include the following:

Jewelry

There is probably no more traditional gift for a woman than expensive jewelry. Even if you’re not sure exactly what type of jewelry she likes, you can’t go wrong with diamonds, emeralds, or rubies, especially if they’re set in silver or gold. Ask her close friends what they think she’d like. Try and come up with a special arrangement that means something to the two of you, such as an engraving that mentions a special time in your lives or an unforgettable place you visited.

Take a Trip to Hawaii

For many people, a trip to Hawaii could be considered the ultimate anniversary getaway. Surprise your spouse with tickets, and then spend some time working out your itinerary. Talk about where you want to go and the sights you just can’t miss. This could be the trip of a lifetime for the two of you, and you’ll want to make it a memory that will last a lifetime. Reserve a hotel room and ask the management to arrange for your needs so you won’t have to spend time making arrangements when you get there. In addition to all of the usual tourist attractions, you could plan a moonlight horseback ride on the beach or rent a sailboat for an overnight excursion.

Keep Her Warm with Fur

Nothing says you love a woman like the gift of fur. A fur coat or wrap is something that she can wear on special occasions–or every day–for years to come. The rich, luxuriant feel of fur is something that most people love, and if it’s well cared for it will last for years to come. Just remember that many people are anti-fur. Make sure your wife will like a gift like this before making the purchase.

Treat Her to a Day at the Spa

Surprise your wife with a day off–not just from work or her daily household tasks, but a true day off where she doesn’t have any responsibilities. Treat her to a day at the spa. She will be able to relax and receive a massage and other types of treatments that will make her feel special.

Book a Weekend Ski Trip

A good surprise anniversary gift is a weekend getaway. If you book a ski trip over the weekend, you will be able to spend time together and renew your love for each other. A weekend at a ski resort will allow you relax by the fire during the evenings and enjoy the thrill of careening down the slopes during the day. It’ll be a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get you out in the fresh air, and allow you to renew your special connection all over again.

A Day of Pampering

Women work hard, whether it’s at a 9 to 5 job or performing the everyday tasks of a homemaker, and if you give them a day of pampering, they’ll more than likely appreciate it a great deal. Their day of pampering could be nearly anything they like, just so long as they don’t have any actual responsibilities. Just the chance to not have to take care of the kids or worry about having supper ready could be a good start.

Have a Romantic Dinner

Among the most traditional anniversary gifts is a romantic dinner. Just the two of you in a place that has subdued lighting and soft music will make for a very special evening. If you book a spot at an upscale romantic restaurant, the atmosphere will make your spouse appreciate the thought you’ve put into the evening.

Eternity Rings

The recent rise in popularity of eternity rings has led many people to assume that they are a new fashion accessory. This popularity may have a lot to do with the endorsement that eternity rings
(or eternity bands as they are also known) has received from some high profile Hollywood actress such as Emily Blunt and Megan Fox. However eternity rings are by no means a new fashion innovation, their history can be traced back over 4000 years to ancient Egypt where rings showing a snake swallowing its own tail was given as a symbol of everlasting love.

Although some believe that traditions state eternity rings should be given on the first anniversary of the wedding day, eternity rings can in fact be given at any time to mark any significant occasion. The symbol of eternal love means they make a luxurious gift to commemorate meaningful wedding anniversaries or to mark the birth of a child.

Here are three special occasions that eternity rings make the perfect gift for:
• Engagement. Many people, celebrities included are beginning to use eternity bands in replace of traditional engagement rings. Diamond eternity rings are no different and are worn on the same finger so make the perfect alternative. The wedding ring is than placed on the same finger next to the eternity band, and another eternity band can complete the set of three which can be changed for different styles or mood.

• To mark the birth of a child. The birth of a child in a family is one of life’s biggest joys. To mark this special occasion many people choose to purchase a gift that will forever remind them of such a special time. An eternity ring filled with gemstones that relate to the month the child was born is special way to celebrate a birth or birthday.

• To mark a wedding anniversary. There are not many more symbolic ways to show your loved one how much they mean to you than a gift of eternal love. If you want an alternative to diamonds other gemstones including emerald’s rubies or sapphires are available, these three gemstones mark three very important wedding anniversaries both in the UK and the US so would make a perfect gift.

In their 4000 year history eternity rings have changed in style like any fashion accessory, what has remained persistently through the history of eternity rings is their symbolic meaning of eternal love for one another. This powerful significance means that eternity rings make the perfect gift to mark a range of special occasions, because all that really matters is the love you have for the one you present the eternity ring to.

If you would like a closer look at the styles of eternity rings available, Just Eternity are one of the largest manufacturers of eternity rings in the UK and would love to answer any questions you may have.

Get Creative With Gifts For Mothers

A gift for Mom! What an exciting and fun present to buy, because you really want this woman to know what she means to you! You can be frustrated, though, if the lady you’re buying for is picky about size, color, style, scent, and so forth. Just remember, though, that the gift you choose reflects how you see her. In other words, if you buy her an ironing board, she’ll think you see her as a maid! Since your goal is to honor your wife, mother, grandmother—or even an aunt or sister—choose from this extensive assortment of ideas in wide-ranging prices, guaranteed to please!

1. Mother’s jewellery – This represents a time-honored tradition for making your mother or wife feel very special. You can choose from any kind of jewellery—rings, necklaces, pendants, pins, bracelets. Often several brothers and sisters can pool their money in order to afford something special, and each person’s birthstone represents that effort.

Mother’s jewellery is an ultimate celebration of a woman’s motherhood, no matter what else she does in life. Grandmother’s jewelry serves this same important purpose! The price ranges vary depending on whether you buy 18k or 14k or 10k gold, or real versus simulated gemstones. If you are buying a mother’s ring check with the retailer to see if the size can be adjusted after purchase. This really is one gift idea that allows you to pick and choose details to fit your wallet!

2. Spa visit – No matter how young or old your mother or wife is, everybody enjoys a spa treatment! Some women long for a full-body massage or hot stone treatment at a luxurious day spa. Other women are a little squeamish about having someone else’s hands on their bodies, and if your mother is like that she’ll enjoy a manicure and maybe a pedicure. That makes this another type of gift that you can adjust according to your available funds. You just buy a spa certificate for the amount you can afford and let her choose her own services. Check www.spawish.com for beauty salons and spas in your area, or just look up your local day spa in the yellow pages!

3. Maid Day – What better way to show her she is definitely not just the maid than purchasing her services from a cleaning lady? Contact a local cleaning service to buy a day or half day of cleaning. You can specify that the cleaning service will attack a chore she’s been dreading. Or you can purchase recurrent general services in your home one day a month, or one-half day a week—whatever fits your budget! This is another service you can look for online (try www.merrymaids.com), but again make certain the vendor services your local area.

4. Gift of Time – This is perfect, especially for kids, because it is a gift of consideration and love. And it costs little, if any, money. You can go online to a certificate maker—we liked www.ivyjoy.com/printcards/certificate/html. All you need to do is specify what service you promise to give, fill in who it’s for and who it’s from, and then print your certificate. If you have money to spend, you can print the certificate to represent something that’s prepaid, such as babysitting services. If you don’t have money, just be certain you’re prepared to fulfill the terms you have promised!

5. Movie Tickets – Everyone likes to go to the movies! Some people only go once or twice a year, and some would go every week if they could. Most multiplexes offer gift certificates in at least two price options to fit your budget. If you want to spend a little more than the cost of movie tickets, pick up a gift certificate for her favorite restaurant. Make certain she knows she is free to decide whether to go with you, or she can call up one of her friends and make it an evening out—with you as the babysitter!

Remember that whoever this woman is in your life, whether she is the mother of your children, or if she is your mother or grandmother, she has put a lot of energy into making your life special and easier. This is your opportunity to show her what she means to you. Whether you buy her mother’s jewelry or a give her a promise to help out with a dreaded task, she will appreciate your thoughtfulness. When you give her your present, don’t forget to say or write the words, “I love you.”

why moustache wax makes a great gift for men

Buying gifts for men is always a tricky task. The amount of socks, boxers, pyjamas and men’s grooming products we get each birthday and Christmas is crazy. So why not branch out and get something a little different that they are bound to remember and appreciate and probably don’t already have. If the man in your life has a beard of facial hair they will appreciate and use moustache wax or beard wax. If they don’t already have a moustache or beard you can even use it as an encouragement for them to take part in the Movember charity event.

Here are the top reasons why moustache wax makes a great gift for men:

Its an unusual gift:
Even if your man has a moustache or beard, chances are they don’t use a good moustache specific wax, and they almost definitely won’t be getting it as a gift. Give the their first pot of high quality beard or moustache wax. If you get them a great wax it will become one of their best, most used grooming products.

Make your mans facial hair even better:
If your man already has a moustache or beard, moustache wax will help tame the beast. It will keep any unruly hairs in check and allow some extra styling such as handlebar style twirls if there is enough length.

So many choices
There are so many choices when it comes to moustache wax. If you look around you can find different scents, strengths, ingredients, colours and so on. Even if they have a moustache wax already you can still find a new brand for them to try.

Inexpensive
Moustache wax tends to range from £5 a pot up to around £10. So it is a really cheap gift but will usually be of a really high quality.

Goes great with other presents
Because of the price and size it might seem like a little gift. While it makes a great gift on its own you can pair it with high quality trimmers, moustache combs.

110 Good Housewarming Gifts

110 Good Housewarming Gifts

If you know someone who has moved into a new home recently, you’re probably trying to come up with just the right housewarming gift. A new home may seem unusually bare for awhile–until the owners can find just the right knick-knack to spruce up the place. Delivering a housewarming gift is a great way to welcome people into their new abode. Of course, you want to make sure you pick out the perfect gift. Following are a few traditional housewarming gifts.

Cookware

One of the best housewarming gifts you can give is something that is a necessity for any home: cookware. This is an especially good idea for young people just starting out in life. Every home has a kitchen, and everyone needs pots and pans to prepare meals. They’ll no doubt think of you the next time they cook dinner and don’t have to use that old beat up kettle.

Gift Baskets

A good way to welcome someone into their new home is to present them with a gift basket filled with a variety of fruits and candy. You can also include a bottle of wine and an assortment of cheeses. Throw in a couple of bars of scented soap and a few towels and you have a gift basket that new home owners will be thankful for.

House Plants

Another traditional gift that is sure to please is a houseplant or two. Make sure you don’t buy anything too exotic unless you know they have a green thumb; some people may not have the time or knowhow to take care of the plants.

Wall Art

If you know the people well, you may want to buy them a piece of art for their wall. Something like a nature photograph or a watercolor painting makes a distinctive gift. If you’re not sure of their taste, you could opt for a couple of nice picture frames so they can buy their own art to fill them, or they can use the frames for family portraits.

Candles

A good gift that is also practical is a nice assortment of candles. You can include a variety of scented candles to brighten up the atmosphere along with a few more traditional candles for dinnertime or as emergency lighting. You may want to throw in a candleholder to complete the gift.

A Tool Kit

Although a housewarming gift is usually something decorative, you can also give a gift that is entirely practical: a tool kit. Most families, especially those just starting out in life, probably don’t even have a screwdriver or a pair of pliers. These are essential tools that are constantly used around any household and will be greatly appreciated the first time they’re needed.

Gift Certificates

Moving into a new home can be nerve-wracking and time consuming. People may not always have time for the basic necessities, like cooking a meal. If you present new home owners with a gift certificate to a local restaurant or a specialty store, it will not only allow them to get away from the hassle of moving for a little while, but will also provide them with the opportunity to explore their new neighborhood.

Baked Goods

Building on the theme that new home owners are busy getting their homes arranged and may not have time to take care of the basics, they will undoubtedly be grateful for a gift basket filled with homemade baked goods. Having a chunky chocolate chip cookie to munch on before bedtime or a piece of homemade cake after dinner would more than likely be greatly appreciated.

Patio Furniture Can be Relaxing

Because new home owners are busy getting everything in order, they would probably like to have a chance to sit down and relax on their patio. You could make that possible by bringing them some patio furniture as a housewarming gift. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy; they’ll probably add a few pieces later on, but in the meantime, they can unwind after work on your thoughtful gift.

Welcome Mat

Everyone needs a welcome mat, and you could be the person who provides one as a thoughtful housewarming gift. It may be the perfect gift for the people who seem to have everything else.

Best and Worst Olympic 2012 Gifts

With the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner now, it’s time to start taking a look at all of the merchandise that comes out just especially for the Olympics. There are some great (and not so great!) Olympic gifts to be bought this year, including the following:

Some of the best Olympic 2012 gifts

Replica Medals – We all know what the Olympics really is about in London this year, the amount of medals that each country ends up with! Well, luckily for you there’s no need to spend years and years training to get some sort of an Olympic medal since you can just buy yourself (or someone else) a replica medal so you’ll always remember the 2012 Olympics.

Olympic Teddy Bear – Everybody loves to get a teddy bear as a gift, whether you’re a child or not. If you like teddy bears then you just have to check out the Olympic Teddy Bears that MerryThought are offering at the moment. There are five different teddy bears that you can choose from and with some of them you can choose to get different colour ribbon and so on. These are limited edition for the London Olympics so if you’re interested don’t wait around too long! We think that these are definitely one of the best gifts to give to someone this year.

Mascot Related Gifts – No Olympics would be the same if it didn’t have plenty of different mascots. Thankfully, the London 2012 Olympics have a number of different mascots which will help you remember one of the best times in the UK throughout the whole year. There are several mascot related gifts that you can buy, such as keyrings, figurines, pin badges etc. You’re bound to see something that’s worth buying.

T-Shirts – T-shirts are always extremely popular at the Olympics, and we expect t-shirts to be just as popular as ever in London this year – if the weather is good that is! Hopefully we’ll get lucky and have some nice weather so people can show off their new Olympic t-shirts that have slogans, their favourite athletes etc on it.

Some of the worst Olympic 2012 gifts:

Olympic Water Bottles – Although it might be arguable that a water bottle can always come in handy (especially if we have some good weather this summer) we don’t really think that it’s one of the best gifts that you can give to someone if you’re lucky enough to be at the Olympic games this year.

Olympic Socks – Have you ever got socks as a gift? Well, if you have you’ll probably always remember that day – and not for a particularly good reason either. The socks have the official logo of the London Olympics and one pair is black and blue while the other is black and red. Maybe it’s just us, but we wouldn’t be impressed if somebody bought us these rather than some other type of memorabilia.

Seven Gifts Not To Buy Anyone…Ever

As a change from all those blog posts you read about ‘best gifts to buy new moms’ or ‘ideal gifts for men over 40’, I thought it would be fun to flip it around. So here are seven gifts not to buy anyone…ever. Don’t blame me if you get one of these as a 40th birthday gift or whatever: I did my best!

Random item from an airport.

When traveling, it is customary to pick up souvenirs for friends back home or to give a thank-you gift to a friend who may be hosting you on your trip. However, the last thing anyone wants is another silly shot glass or tote bag from a random city you spent a half-an-hour in during your layover. Instead, plan ahead and buy something thoughtful during your trip or bring something from back home to your host.

Electronic doodad, batteries not included.

Have you ever been a victim of this unfortunate circumstance? While the actual electronic device might be awesome and exactly what you wanted, receiving it without the batteries at hand can be a torturous tease. Better to stop of at the nearest store and pick-up a last minute battery pack – trust, the receiver will not mind if they aren’t wrapped inside.

3. Something you are really getting for yourself. People see right through this one. That is all.

4. Fake flowers.
Flowers have traditionally been a wonderful gift in all types of circumstances, but giving silk flowers just sends the wrong message. Yes, fake flowers can be found inexpensively at a dollar store, but spending the extra money on the real-deal is absolutely the only acceptable way to go.

5. Pants – that are too big.
Giving clothes is a generous route to follow, however it is critical to not be too generous when picking out the size. Women and men alike can be offended when receiving large clothes, taking it as if the giver believes them to be fatter than they really are, so try to find out their size before purchase.

6. Keepsake, engraving misspelled.
Precious items, from lockets to rings to bracelets, can make wonderful thoughtful presents when personalized with a inscription. However, it is important to triple-check that the message has all parts spelled correctly and no words are missing or repeated. Imagine how happy the moment could be to give the perfect piece of jewelry to your loved one and then realizing the message was marred; avoid the deep, sinking feeling of disappointment that both you and the recipient would feel by making sure every part of the inscription is planned out perfectly.

7. Framed picture of yourself.
Nothing quite says “I’m full of myself” quite like giving a presumptuous picture of you. While they say the best way to choose a gift is to think of what you would want and then give that, and while you very well might enjoy a flattering photograph of yourself, this is a case where it is okay to break this golden rule. If you would really like to give a framed picture, instead try to get a picture that includes the recipient.

Diamond Jubilee Mugs great charity idea

“How Historical is the Diamond Jubilee and How Can You Remember It?” “

Anybody that dismisses what the monarchy means to Britain has never been in London when there is an event around Buckingham Palace. Even the changing of the guard can attract interest from hundreds of tourists and events like the Royal Wedding attract a worldwide audience. But what about the Queen herself should we appreciate our Queen more than we do?

At the Diamond Jubilee it will be 60 years since a 25 year old Elizabeth was thrust on to the throne. Queen Elizabeth II will be only the second Queen to reach her diamond jubilee year (the previous being Queen Victoria). Queen Elizabeth has seen Britain through two recessions the death of Princess Diana and scandal regarding members of the royal family. At times it was thought that the British public had lost faith in the Royal family especially after the death of Princess Diana however the numbers that fell in love with William and Kate in 2011 showed that the country had fallen back in love with the royal family. As people come to appreciate the Queen taken Britain through the modern era the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee will become as big as the Royal Wedding.

How to remember the Diamond Jubilee?

The diamond jubilee will be a huge celebration that will be remembered for generations and can be remember with printed merchandise. If you are planning to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee with a charity event the Diamond Jubilee official logo has now been made freely available for anybody to use. It would be an ideal opportunity to the logo on mugs to raise money for charity. If you would like to create your own diamond jubilee mug then get in touch with a printing company and make the most of the opportunity.
